Late Night Bites

One of the latest trends in weddings are late night bites. Bride and grooms are ordering up delicious menus for their guests later in the evening. Late night bites will be set out usually around 10:30, after their guests have had enough time to burn off their dinners and need some refueling to last another two hours. The food is generally served in smaller portions and can be served on cocktail plates, giving your guest bites of great comfort food. At Mother of The Bride it has become such a thing to do, we wanted to share some of our favorites with you...

  • Gourmet pizzas and pizzas everyone loves. If you have a favorite kind, some venues will let you bring in your favorite, just check with your catering manager. If that isn't an option, the kitchen can come close to replicating your fav.
  • Sliders..beef, turkey and veggie, fries in cones, onion rings on stands with great unique dipping sauces and who doesn't love a mini hot dog with all the fixings?

  • LOVE Mexican? Try out a Salsa and Guac bar with a variety of tortilla chips along with quesidillas..not one guest will go home hungry!

  • Another route that you can go is a childhood favorite such as mini grilled cheese sandwiches, small cups of tomato soup and ramekins of mac-n-cheese...guests will be reminded of the simple things in life with this guilty pleasure.

  • Everything mini is the way to go, mini coke bottles with straws, mini milk shakes, mini root beer floats...your guests will for sure love this one.

These are just a few of the combos out there. Brainstorm with your significant other about what the both of you love...incorporate that in your late night bite menu. This is a reflection of you, adding this little touch will add to your whole evening. Something for you to remember as well as your guests.

Enjoy!

Recent Weddings

The Spring season has started at Mother of the Bride. The weather has been perfect, more than we can ask for, I am sure our brides and grooms feel the same. A recent favorite was designed and planned for a fabulous couple from Edina, Cate and John. With help from Arts & Flowers, Linen Effects, Vada Voom Photography and Interlachen Country Club it was an elegant evening to remember, we hope they will, we know that we will!

Until next time....

The Knot Weddings - Best Planner of 2009

We are so pleased to have gotten recognized again as one of the Knot's "Best of" in the planner category! We love designing the perfect day for our clients and to be honored with "Best Planner" again from the Knot shows that we continue to do so at an outstanding level. We are proud of all of our hard-working, talented planners. Keep up the excellent work!

Something Blue

Spring is here and weddings are in full swing! I had the pleasure of working with a wonderful family over the weekend and wanted to comment on how fantastic their colors were. They used a palette of blue, grey and ivory. Though not traditional wedding colors - when the room was set and done with candles glowing and the night sky peeking in it was amazing. To make the room pop even more we used blue uplighting to pull it all together. Many great vendors put this remarkable wedding together - Richfield Floral, The Sevilles, D'Amico Catering - wonderful to work with Jason, Studio 306 always a pleasure, and Linen Effects - Russ Mohr.

Well here it is March already and your wedding may be just around the corner. Many talk about wanting to wait to hire vendors for their big day so that they can see if they are going to lose their jobs. This economy like never before has most frightened to spend money.

If you are one of those frightened souls who has been waiting on pins and needs there are a couple of great resources to hiring your vendors without having to spend endless time on the phone interviewing. www.weddingwire.com is a great resource because vendors are rated by previous clients as well as local vendors. Another great one is www.weddingvendors.com.

On a side note I was thrilled to find two photographers this week that I love and that have good prices. They are Studio Laguna www.Studiolaguna.com and Jennifer Cress www.Jennifercress.com. Both are super talented.

Happy Shopping!
