Personalizing your Wedding Day

One of the lastest things that we have found to be very popular at Mother of the Bride is making your wedding day yours. It has become very popular to make a brand for your wedding. It can be a logo, a monogram or a design. This piece of art is designed by a local designer, graphic artist or a stationery company especially for you. The first step is coming up with the idea of what you want to play with. Start with a color, next your monogram, lastly a design. If monograms aren't your thing, color, style and design would be key for you. Begin with your save the date, next your invitation. For all elements of your wedding, program, menu, cocktail napkins, guest towels, favors and placecards. You can go as far as having your linens specially made with your design Anything that can be printed can have your signature style on it.

Another way of personalizing your wedding day is picking a theme for your day. Picking something that the two of love, something you do together, if you met somewhere cool...go with that. Color is another really cool way of making things different and special. Linens, flowers, bridesmaid dresses, even drinks can be your signature color. The ideas are endless, make your day and unique as you are.

Happy Planning!

Signature Cocktails

So you are getting married and you want something a little bit different, maybe a little kitchy for your cocktail hour, what better way...try a signature cocktail. It is a trend that we love at Mother of the Bride because it is a great way to let the bride and groom express themselves with a favorite. Playing with your color scheme, colored cocktails are a great way to add a little punch to your cocktail hour, display your cocktails on a table with a great linen, this definatley will make a statement. His and her cocktails are a great addition to a bar at your reception, make special menus that offer the "his and hers" cocktails, your guests will love this. If you are getting married in the winter, a passed hot toddy will surely keep your guests toasty. For a summer time wedding, a classic mojito with fresh mint served outside will definatley keep your guests cool and ready for a good time. Go the extra mile with your planning, a fun stir stick added to your cocktail, personalized napkins, the list is endless with the cocktails that can be thought of and made for your guests to enjoy, this will forsure WOW them. Cheers to you!

Buenos Noches!

For a rehearsal dinner that will be remembered for it's fun and irreverent style - consider a night of fresh Tex Mex or Mexican fare! You can either opt to create all of it on your own or bits and pieces. Have a favorite guacamole recipe? Perfect - you make that and have a friend, caterer, or favorite local mexican restaurant do the rest. Tacos, enchiladas, rice and beans - fresh tomatoes, peppers, corn salsa - the possibilities are endless. Think out of the box and add fish tacos and shrimp tacos. Try making a fresh white sangria out of a light white wine like a pinot grigio or a gazala. Now add some fresh oranges, limes and lemons and let it settle and chill for a few hours. Some guests might prefer a great Mexican beer such as Tecate or Corona and or course it wouldn't be a party without a margarita or two!

For decor go a bit different from a traditional Mexican palette - hot corals, reds, kiwi, papaya and mango will add a more modern flare and most of these colors are available in linen.

By all means throw in a mariachi band for a bit but please - no Pinatas!

If you have the budget there are companies that will come out to your home or business and set up a portable restaurant to make your party more like a street fair.

Happy Planning!

Air Conditioned Vintage at Last!

Just can't wait to let people know that there is finally an option for a gorgeous white 1952 Bentley with a red leather interior. The brilliant crew over at Twin City Trolley purchased this car and had it retrofitted with an awesome air conditioning system that will keep you cool and GORGEOUS as you troll around from ceremony to reception and anything in between. The secret is out - glad to be of service!
